Andrade homicide case delayed, judge considering venue change for trial
The jury trial scheduled for Sept. 21 for Charlotte Andrade’s deliberate homicide case will be rescheduled.
During a Sept. 9 status hearing, Judge John Parker said he was drafting a scheduling order and strongly considering a venue change to a neighboring county.
He told attorneys during the hearing that the case would not be going to trial on Sept. 21.
Andrade sentenced in criminal endangerment case, homicide case pending
Amanda Lofink, the deputy county attorney prosecuting the case, said the state objected to a venue change that neither side had requested at this point, and if the court was changing the venue of its own volition, she requested that Parker issue an order explaining his rationale.
Parker said he had strong concerns about holding a trial in Andrade’s current homicide case in Cascade County since her previous case may have generated pre-trial juror knowledge and he had a sense it would be a difficult jury selection process.
Andrade was charged with accountability to deliberate homicide in 2023 in connection with the stabbing death of Tammey McWilliams, 51, near Chowen Springs Park.
Andrade homicide case continuing, sentencing scheduled in criminal mischief case
Andrade was 18 at the time.
A jury found her not guilty in 2024.
She was sentenced in March on charges of criminal endangerment and criminal mischief from a May 2025 incident.
During a March 18 hearing, Judge David Grubich sentenced her to a five-year Montana Department of Corrections commitment, with no time suspended, for the criminal endangerment charge, and six months in the county jail on the criminal mischief charge. Grubich ordered that she pay $480 in restitution to the victim.

He also recommended screening for a substance abuse treatment program and anger management.
Andrade received credit for 272 days of time served at sentencing.
Andrade remains in custody on a $1 million bond facing felony counts of deliberate homicide and attempted deliberate homicide from a June 2025 shooting.

The case has been delayed by defense attorney changes.
Andrade is currently represented by Colin Stephens, a private attorney on contract to the Montana Office of the State Public Defender.
During a March status hearing, Parker said “we have to get the train back on the tracks,” in terms of scheduling in the case, and that the case likely wouldn’t go to trial this year.
Andrade charged in early morning shooting death [2025]
There was a warrant for Andrade’s arrest on the charges in the criminal endangerment case when she was arrested and charged in June 2025, at the age of 20, with the felony counts of deliberate homicide and attempted deliberate homicide for a shooting at the Phoenix Apartments.
In the May case, for which she has since been sentenced, Andrade and two males approached a victim on foot while she was at the gas pump, according to court documents.

Andrade told the victim and her friends to leave and a verbal argument ensued, with the victim and her friends getting into her vehicle to leave, but the victim got back out and continued the argument, according to court documents.
Andrade allegedly pulled out a BB gun and shot at the victim’s vehicle twice, causing damage, then pointed it at the victim’s face from four or five feet away and shot the victim in the face, according to charging documents.
Lofink told Judge David Grubich during the sentencing hearing this spring that the May 2025 incident was gang-related activity but was not charged as such with a gang enhancement, as it couldn’t be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Lofink said that the probation office validated Andrade’s association with known gang members, but did not find Andrade to be a member herself.
Lofink said the prosecution wasn’t asking for a harsher punishment because of that association, but the court could consider those affiliations in sentencing.
Andrade is accused of shooting two people at the Phoenix Apartments in June, killing one and injuring the other.
Standinghorn sentenced in 2025 gang-related shooting
Great Falls Police officers were dispatched to 1801 10th Ave. S. at 3:42 a.m. June 9, 2025 for reports of a disturbance.
A resident had called dispatch because two people were banging on his door at Unit 11. Officers checked the area but didn’t locate anyone, according to charging documents.
At 4:03 a.m. the resident called back reporting that people were again banging on his door and at the same time, another witness called saying two people were shot. The witness said one had been shot in the arm and the male was shot in the chest and was lying on the ground, according to charging documents.

Officers entered Unit 14 and made contact with Braden Walker, who had a gunshot wound to the left shoulder, according to court documents. Officers escorted Walker out, then returned to speak to the two females inside the apartment.
One of the females told officers she was Darien Bickel’s girlfriend and Bickel was the male lying outside.
The females said they’d been on the west side of Unit 14 on the porch and Bickel and Walker had been walking around the unit.
Nichols changes plea in September 2025 shooting that injured high school student
The females told officers they heard three shots and saw Walker and Bickel running, with Walker running into the apartment, locking the door, and Bickel collapsing outside, according to court documents.
The females were “adamant that Charlotte Andrade was the shooter, but did not see her,” according to court documents, since there had been recent issues with her and the initial caller who reported people banging on his door at Unit 11.
Goss’ bond increased to $1 million in downtown stabbing death
The initial caller called into dispatch again and was told to come out with his hands up. Two males exited Unit 11 and were taken into custody. The females from Unit 14 were taken to GFPD for interviews, according to court documents.
The males told officers no one else in Unit 11, but at 6:40 a.m. Andrade and another male exited the unit, according to charging documents.
Through interviews with the four occupants of the unit, there were differing accounts of what occurred and where the shots came from.
Plea agreement reached in 2024 attempted deliberate homicide case
Eventually, Andrade admitted to shooting the two males from the upstairs window and occupants of Unit 11 said the gun was hidden under the living room couch.
Several of the occupants told law enforcement that they saw, or thought they saw, at least one of the victims with a gun on them, according to charging documents.

In 2022, Bickel was charged with six counts of criminal endangerment for discharging a firearm at the building of 719 8th St. N., then walking away.
Jenkins charged with killing his grandmother
Bickel had been given a deferred sentence but an arrest warrant was issued in his case in April, according to court records.
