GFPS sets timeline for May board election

The Great Falls Public Schools board set their election calendar during their Nov. 24 meeting.

The next school board election is set for May 5 with three seats on the ballot.

Filing opens Dec. 11 and runs through Feb. 9.

The board approved a resolution calling for a mail ballot, which is an estimated $65,000 cost to the district.

School election preliminary results

If the board decides to put a levy on the ballot, they must pass a resolution stating the exact amounts by March 26.

If the number of candidates who have filed is equal to or less than the number of open board positions on April 3, the board may declare the election by acclamation, meaning ballots would not be mailed.

If more than three candidates file, ballots will be mailed April 15-20.

GFPS election is May 6, turnout about 22 percent so far

The three seats on the May ballot are for three year terms.

Those seats are currently held by Bill Bronson, Kim Skornogoski and Amie Thompson.

Anyone interested in filing for board positions must live within the GFPS district boundary.
