GFPS election is May 6, turnout about 22 percent so far
The Great Falls Public Schools Board election is May 6.
About 36,780 ballots were mailed and as of May 5, 8,375 had been returned.
That’s about 22.7 percent.

GFPS forgoing levy on May ballot, but has option to do so through Aug. 1
Ballots can be returned to the elections office or the dropbox in the Courthouse Annex foyer on 2nd Avenue North during normal business hours up until May 5.
On May 6, election day, the county elections office moves to Exhibition Hall. Voters can register, vote and return their ballots at Exhibition Hall from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The drop boxes will also be available at the Annex on May 6.
Lynn Deroche of the elections office told The Electric last week that 1,078 ballots had been returned undeliverable.
Terry Thompson, county election administrator, said that they were mailing out letters to all voters whose ballots were returned undeliverable with notice that their address was undeliverable.
Ballots cannot be forwarded, but the notice letters can be, Thompson said.
GFPS sets May election details, three seats open
Voters can return the form included in the letter to update their address and if it’s received before election day, the ballot can be resent, but since the letters were being mailed on April 30, that didn’t leave much time and Thompson recommended that voters who didn’t receive their ballot visit the elections office to correct their address and be issued a ballot.

Four candidates are running for three available seats on the GFPS board for three-year terms.
Gordon Johnson and Paige Turoksi, current school board members, are seeking reelection.
Tony Rosales and Craig Duff are also seeking election to the school board.
