Dog park closes May 6 for turf repair
The Pacific Steel and Recycling Trailside Dog Park closes May 6 for annual turf repair.
The park is tentatively scheduled to reopen June 3.
High use has caused considerable turf damage to the park, according to Park and Recreation, and during the closure, the park will be fertilized, overseeded, and irrigated. The closure allows about four weeks for the turf to rejuvenate and recover.
Since opening in July 2009, the park has become one of the city’s most popular parks.
“The park closure is a short term inconvenience with a long-term benefit. We have to remember to look at the big picture and take care of our community amenities, like the dog park. Regular maintenance and repairs like these benefit all of us, including our pets,” Parks Manager Lonnie Dalke said in a release.
The city appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during the closure. For questions regarding the repair project contact Dalke at 771-1265.
