For the next month, 67th Street North will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic between Giant Springs Road and 18th Avenue North for street reconstruction and paving.

The closure began Sept. 18 and is expected to last about 30 days.

During the closure, traffic accessing Giant Springs Road is encouraged to use River Drive North.

The parking area for the Lewis and Clark conservation easement along 67th Street North will also be closed.

Motorists traveling east on Giant Springs Road should turn around at the South Shore Trail parking area.

Drivers and pedestrians are asked to follow posted traffic control and avoid the closed portion of the roadway.

Several construction projects in Giant Springs State Park and Giant Springs Hatchery are starting Sept. 21 and expected to last through late October.

During this time, visitors will not be able to access the fish display pond at the fish hatchery.

Parts of Roe Island near the springs along with the sidewalk upstream of the Giant Springs may also be temporarily closed.

Visitors will be able to walk across the footbridge to Roe Island and access the viewing bridge.

The River’s Edge Trail will remain open but may require walking across the grass while work occurs upstream of the springs, according to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
