GFPS board approves calendar amendment for non-student contact days
The Great Falls Public Schools board approved a calendar amendment during its July 13 meeting for the upcoming school year.
During the 2024-25 school year and throughout that summer, district officials and the Great Falls Education Association worked through the process of modifying the contact minutes during the school year to have nonstudent contact days at the end of the first three quarters to provide time for teachers to be in their classrooms for record keeping and professional development, according to the human resources department.
School board approves salaries for administration and support personnel
Officials said those days were beneficial during the last school year and want to continue the same format in the upcoming year.
The non-student contact days include three hours of professional development, three hours of record-keeping for teachers in their classrooms and a one-hour lunch.
GFPS increased starting teachers salaries under state incentive legislation
The end-of-quarter days for the 2026-2027 school year are:
- Friday, Oct. 30
- Friday, Jan. 15
- Friday, March 25
There is no fiscal impact, according to GFPS’ human resources department.
