Winco construction underway

Yes, Winco is really happening.

The city planning office issued a permit June 11 for demolition work needed for the eventual renovation and build-out at 301 N.W. Bypass.

The Electric first reported that Winco had purchased the building in January 2025 and has been reporting updates ever since.

In March, we reported that Winco had submitted for a building permit on Feb. 25 and city staff were reviewing the application.

In June 2025, we reported that city staff continued getting periodic due diligence questions on the Winco project, but no formal paperwork had been submitted to the city.

In January 2025, we reported that a special warranty deed was filed with the Cascade County Clerk and Recorder’s office in November, showing that GFS Buildings LLC had sold the former Shopko property to Winco Foods.

The property ownership hadn’t yet been updated in Cadastral, the state property records website, at the time, but now shows Winco Foods as the owner.

In the January 2025 round of bites, The Electric reported that no paperwork had yet been filed with the city and the company hadn’t confirmed their plans for a Great Falls location.
