Q: Why are you running for clerk and recorder?

A: I am running for clerk and recorder because I have over 15 years of experience working in the clerk and recorder’s office. During that time, I have gained the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to serve in this role because I have worked in many of the office’s departments. I believe my experience has prepared me to lead the office, support employees, and provide good service to the public.

Q: What do you believe is the role of the county clerk and recorder?

A: It’s the place where property deeds and mortgages are recorded, subdivisions and plats are logged, public records are preserved, and vital records like birth and death certificates are maintained — all with care and accuracy.

Q: What do you believe are the top three challenges facing Cascade County?

A: I believe the top challenges facing Cascade County are the drug crisis, mental health issues, and homelessness because these problems are often connected.

As clerk and recorder, my focus would be on open communication with the public, supporting employees, and making sure office work is completed on time. I believe people deserve an office that is organized, helpful, and easy to work with.

Q: If elected, what would be your initial priorities and how would you accomplish those goals? Portrait of a smiling woman with long black hair, wearing a black blazer over a white patterned blouse and a colorful beaded necklace with a heart pendant.

A: If elected, my first priorities would be building trust and improving communication with the businesses and people who work with the clerk and recorder’s office every day.

To do this, I would start by meeting with each employee to learn about their job duties and understand any problems or challenges they may have. If employees need more training, I will make sure they get the proper training and support to do their jobs well.

By improving communication, trust, and making sure employees have the tools they need, the office can run more smoothly and provide better service to the public.

Q: If elected, what do you believe you bring to the role of clerk and recorder?

A: I would bring good communication, trust, and a strong work ethic to the role of clerk and recorder. I believe in treating people with respect, listening to concerns, and making sure the office runs smoothly. I would work to build trust with employees, businesses, and the public by being open, helpful, and dependable. Also, will be available to the public to answer questions and concerns.

Q: How would you conduct public outreach on controversial matters before the county, or to promote a general understanding of the county’s public process related to the clerk and recorder?

I would make sure my door is always open to the public for questions, concerns, or problems. I believe open communication is important, especially when dealing with controversial issues.

I would also help people better understand the clerk and recorder’s office by explaining what each department does and how the public process works. I want people to feel informed, heard, and comfortable coming to the office for help.

Q: How would you manage the many tasks of the clerk and recorder’s office?

A: I would manage the many tasks of the clerk and recorder’s office by staying organized, communicating clearly, and handling priorities one step at a time. My past work experience has taught me how to multitask, work under pressure, and stay focused in busy situations.

Q: How would you approach the budget process within your office to ensure the county is making the best use of taxpayer dollars?

A: I would tackle this issue by working closely with the budget officer to help manage the budget responsibly. I would use the resources available within the county to make sure the clerk and recorder’s budget is being used properly and responsibly with taxpayer dollars.

Q: What do you envision your working relationship with county staff would look like?

A: I want the employees to know they can trust me as their clerk and recorder. I want them to feel respected, supported, and comfortable talking to me about concerns or ideas. I do not want to be seen as just their boss, but as someone who listens, works with the team, and wants everyone to succeed.
