County approves contract for Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finals
Cascade County Commissioners unanimously approved a contract with the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finals during their Dec. 9 meeting for three years, with the option to renew for an additional two years.
Susan Shannon, Expo Park manager, told commissioners that the county has partnered with the rodeo since 1980 and it’s a “hallmark event” at the fairgrounds, attracting thousands.
County approves fair entertainment, rodeo contracts
Commissioner Jim Larson said, “this is one of our outstanding events during the year” and that it was time to extend it so it would continue for the next three to five years.
Shannon said the January rodeo is the second biggest event at Expo Park after the state fair.
It’s the “best rodeo in Montana” and “perfect January entertainment,” she said.
The contract dates include:
- Jan. 15-17, 2026
- Jan. 14-16, 2027
- Jan. 13-15, 2028
- with the option to renew for Jan. 11-13, 2029 and Jan. 10-12, 2030

The contract includes additional move in and move out dates and other fees that are assessed during and after the event, such as dirt for the area.
The base rental fee is $19,612, according to the contract.
The contract also includes a facility fee for ticketed box office events at Expo Park of a $2 per ticket on all tickets sold. The fee must be included in the ticket price that is advertised, according to the contract.
Promotor, sponsor, comp tickets are charged a $1 fee per ticket up to 1,500 tickets and anything over that amount will be charged $2 per ticket, according to the contract.
