Former GFPS teacher convicted of rape, sexual assault
A jury convicted a former North Middle School teacher last week of felony counts of sexual intercourse without consent and sexual assault.
Michael Jarrett was arrested in August 2024 when the Great Falls Police Department assisted the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office with executing the warrant.

The charges stem from crimes that occured in Lewis and Clark County several years ago when the victim was a juvenile and the case was tried in district court in Helena.
His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 15 in Helena.
Great Falls Public Schools Superintendent Heather Hoyer told The Electric that Jarrett is no longer employed by GFPS.

At the time, Great Falls Public Schools said that “as soon as the allegations were known to us, we placed the teacher on administrative leave and he will have no access to or involvement with district premises, property, staff or students.”
GFPD said in their statement last summer that the charges involved Jarrett’s off-duty conduct with a minor who is now an adult.

“We take these allegations seriously and we are uncompromising in our commitment to safe and secure schools,” GFPS said in a statement.
Hoyer told The Electric last year that there were no charges before his August 2024 arrest, so the incident didn’t show up during a background check.
