First Peoples Buffalo Jump hosting October evening events
Hikers are invited to a Harvest Moon and Sunset Hike at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park on Oct. 8 beginning at 6 p.m.
The three-mile moderately difficult hike will last about two hours. Hikers will enjoy the sunset that evening, followed by the rise of the Harvest Moon as they learn about the history of the park from ranger Andy Keller.
The hike fee is $4 and limited to 25 participants. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the park at 406-866-2217.
On Oct. 22, join park staff from 7-9 p.m. to enjoy the night sky seen above the Montana prairie.
The open night sky and stargazing viewing is weather dependent and free of charge.
Visitors are invited to bring their own binoculars or telescope to view the brilliant night sky away from the lights of Great Falls. Three telescopes will also be available for use, and hot chocolate and cookies will be provided.
First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park is located three miles north of Ulm, just off Interstate 15 at exit 270.
