Great Falls Park and Rec hosting events in September
Great Falls Park and Recreation is hosting several events in September.
The Pollinator’s Blitz is 4-5 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Gibson Park Flower Garden featuring a horticulturist from the city’s forestry division who will guide attendees in best practices on pollinator gardens.
Cuttings and seeds will be passed out to participants.
Participants should being questions and a notepad and pen.
Nerf Wars is 7-9 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Scheels Aim High Aquatic and Recreation Facility for those eight and older.
The cost is $15 per person and pizza will be provided.
Pre-registration is required and a minimum of 25 participants is required.
Limited eyewear and blasters are available to borrow.
A youth triathlon will be Oct. 4 for those 2-13 years old.
The cost is $15 per participant per challenge.
Youth participants will swim in the Aim High lap pool, ride their bike and run around Lions Park.
There are three different challenges available.
The Challenge is a 25-yard swim, one bike and a one run loop around Lions Park.
The Super Challenge is a 50-yard swim, and three loops on the bike and running.
The Ultimate Challenge is a 100-yard swim and six laps on the bike and run.
Participants will have the opportunity to create their own participant bib and bike plate.
To keep costs low, prior year Ice Breaker medals and t-shirts will be handed out to all participants.
Participants will have the opportunity to update or decorate their finisher’s medals and t-shirts.
Parents are encourage to participate with their kids, but will not need to register.
No times will be kept and all participants will be entered into drawings for prizes.
Check in begins at 7 a.m., with the first heat starting at 8 a.m.
Ppost-race fuel will be provided after the event in the Lions Park pavilion.
