GFFR responds to 22nd structure fire of the year; no injuries reported
Great Falls Fire Rescue responded to a shed fire at 601 25th Ave. N.E. at 5:21 p.m. Aug. 25.
The first engine arrived on scene at 5:26 p.m. and found all occupants safely out of the house.
The shed, located along the alley and next to the house, was fully engulfed in flames, according to GFFR.
Firefighters found that the fire had entered the attic space of the garage and was extending into the rest of the house, according to GFFR.
GFFR responds to morning house fire
The first engine company on scene was able to quickly apply water to the shed and exterior of the garage. Other crews entered the house and extinguished the fire in the attic, stopping it from spreading to the rest of the house.
GFFR crews had the fire controlled within about 10 minutes, according to GFFR.
The fire, which was deemed accidental, caused significant damage to the exterior of the garage and smoke damage throughout the house, according to GFFR.

Crews from the Montana Air National Guard and Malmstrom Air Force Base fire departments backfills Stations 4 and 4 until off duty GFFR firefighters could return to work.
The fire makes 22 structure fires so far this year in Great Falls with $1,676,799 in property loss and $856,079 in content loss, according to data from GFFR.
By the end of July 2024, there had been 22 structure fires in Great Falls, with none in August, and 41 total for the year.
Last year’s property loss totaled $1,999,550 and content loss totaled $732,360.
