New director named for The History Museum

The History Museum has hired a new executive director, Connie Constan.

She’ll take over the role as director of the museum and the Cascade County Historical Society on June 30.

Constan is a Great Falls native with a bachelors in archaeology/anthropology from University of Montana, and masters and doctoral degrees from the University of New Mexico.

She’s held adjunct faculty positions in archaeology at the University of New Mexico and worked with the U.S. Forest Service across the west, most recently in Bozeman.

“Constan brings her extensive experience in archaeology and artifact and cultural resource management to our program with great enthusiasm for discovery and interpretation of the history of North Central Montana,” according to the museum.

The museum will host a welcome reception for Constan soon.

Constan replaces Kristi Scott, who announced in March she was leaving her position as director.

Scott has served as the museum’s director since March 2019, succeeding Jim Meinert, who served as director for nine years.
