MDT hosting open house on upcoming 9th Street NW project

The Montana Department of Transportation, in partnership with Sanbell and the City of Great Falls, is hosting an in-person open house to learn more about the upcoming reconstruction of 9th Street Northwest, from Central Avenue West to the Northwest Bypass.

The meeting is 4-7 p.m. June 4 in the West Elementary School auditorium, 1205 1st Ave. N.W.

The event is open-house style with no formal presentation.

Residents are encouraged to stop by anytime during the event to view project displays, speak directly with project team members and provide comments.

The project aims to enhance safety, drainage and accessibility through updated curbs, sidewalks, storm drains, Americans with Disability-compliant ramps and signal upgrades, according to MDT.

Informal off-street parking in the public right-of-way will be reallocated for new sidewalks and storm drain infrastructure.

Construction is anticipated to begin in 2026, pending funding availability and design completion, according to MDT.
