Former COPP launches initiative aimed at campaign finance report; hosting community conversation May 22
Former Montana Commissioner of Political Practices Jeff Mangan is hosting a community conversation about how to get dark money out of politics at the Great Falls Public Library at 6 p.m. May 22.
Mangan recently launched the Transparent Election Initiative, an effort to champion meaningful campaign finance reform and tackle the challenges posed by Citizens United.
With his experience in public service and dedication to ethical governance, Mangan is spearheading the project aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in our electoral process.
TEI seeks to shed light on the world of political funding, empowering voters with clear information about campaign finance and ensuring that our democracy truly represents the will of the people, Mangan said.
The Transparent Election Initiative focused on a grassroots effort to eliminate dark money that has flooded Montana’s elections since the 2010 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the Citizens United case against the Federal Election Commission.
Members of the community are invited to join TEI at one of a series of conversations across the state and share their perspectives, ideas, and thoughts on money in politics.
