Veterans Day ceremony set for Monday

The Montana Veterans Memorial Association is hosting the 19th annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 in the lobby of Centene stadium.

Members of the 341st Missile Wing base honor guard will present the colors and the invocation will be delivered by U.S. Air Force Chaplain (Capt.) Chad Hesler.

The Sound of the Falls Women’s Harmony Chorus will sing the “Star-Spangled Banner” and “God Bless the USA.” Great Falls Pipe Band member Jesse Callender will play the “Bagpipe Salute” in honor of all U.S. military veterans.

Cadets assigned to the local Air Force Junior ROTC high school program will lead the participants and audience in the “Pledge of Allegiance.”

This year’s theme is recognizing the service of female veterans.

U.S. Navy veteran Kim Kay McCarty Martin and U.S. Army veteran Shannon Wilson will discuss their experiences. Martin is the vice commander of American Legion Post 341 and Wilson is the adjutant of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4669 in Black Eagle.

Deb Kottel of St. Vincent de Paul will also provide updates on the Grace Home Veterans Center that serves as a transitional housing facility for homeless male veterans and the new Grace Haven that serves homeless female veterans.

Those unable to attend can hear the Veterans Day Ceremony broadcast live on Great Falls public radio 89.9 FM KGPR. The ceremony can be viewed on live at the Montana Veterans Memorial Facebook page.
