Ginger Day 2024
Ginger Day is back to celebrate those fiery redheads in our lives.
Created by local redheads for their birthdays, including this reporter, it’s just a fun time to celebrate all things ginger.
We’re super excited to be adding a “No Souls” paddle with our friends at Bighorn Outdoor Specialists, an idea I absolutely stole from the Halloween witches paddle in my grandma’s New Jersey town that I’ve wanted to do for awhile. God bless local business friends that say, “yeah, let’s do it!” when you come up with wild ideas.
And of course, a huge thank you to all these businesses that support my Ginger Day shenanigans year after year.
No, you do not have to be a ginger to participate in any of these activities, but we love getting to know all the gingers out there.
Here’s what we’ve got going for this year’s Ginger Day, also known as one of this reporter’s favorite days:
- No Souls paddle: Meet at Oddfellows Park around 10 a.m. Bighorn will have staff on hand who are super with river activities and they’re sending over a trailer full of kayaks and stand up paddleboards for you to try for free for 30 minutes. You just need to sign a release. If you’ve got your own kayaks or paddleboards, just jump in the river and float to your heart’s content with us till noon to 1ish.
- Elevation 3330: Grab a tasty strawberry margarita. Mention Ginger Day and gingers get happy hour all night long.
- The Blue Rose: 25 percent off for all gingers and their friends.
- The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers: 20 percent off all red and orange yarn.
- The Wild Hare: Introducing The Passionate Ginger!
- Teriyaki Madness: Teriyaki Madness is seeing RED! For Ginger Day on Aug. 17, get 10 percent off any bowl of spicy chicken teriyaki or orange chicken (or for that matter, spicy orange chicken)! Just mention Ginger Day to get your discount. May not be combined with any other discount, special or promotion.
- Pizazz: A ginger cocktail and a ginger goodie.
- Fire Pizza: The Red Head pizza
- 5th and Wine: Free mimosa with entree purchase on Aug. 17
- Buffalo Blanc: $5 off your order for gingers on Aug. 17
- KellerGeist: Try The Nutty Ginger, which I hear is quite tasty!
- Great Falls Public Library: The sweet librarians over there created a red book display in honor of Ginger Day and we couldn’t be more excited. The library will be celebrating the end of the adult summer reading program at Annie’s Tap House with Taqueria Ibarra Montana, live music and some trivia from 5-8 p.m.
- Touch-A-Truck: The fourth annual Touch-A-Truck is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the 100-500 blocks of Central Avenue downtown hosted by Junior League of Great Falls. If you’re down there having fun, take a photo of you and/or your kiddos with three things red/orange/ginger inspired and email them to jenn@theelectricgf.com by Aug. 22 for a chance to win a $20 downtown gift certificate.
- Farmers’ Market: The Great Falls Farmers’ Market continues on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Civic Center. Same rules, take a photo of you/your kids/friends with three things that are red/orange/ginger inspired, email them to jenn@theelectricgf.com by Aug. 22 for a chance to win a $20 downtown gift certificate.
- If you happen to spot Jenn downtown on Saturday, she’ll have some of her new pens with The Electric’s logo in red to give away.
