Harlos Wax and Sugar Spa
Melissa Mathern is looking for a new owner or her business, Harlos Wax and Sugar Spa.
She started the business in February 2017, a month after moving to Great Falls.
“It’s bittersweet to be making this post. Right now I’m in the thick of mom-life to three littles which I’ve decided means a pivot in my business. I am looking for the right individual to continue this journey at Harlos in order to elevate the business to an even higher level,” she wrote on the business’ Facebook page.
Anyone interested should email harlosspa@icloud.com.
Business continues as usual in the meantime.
Yarn and Honey
The sign for the new Yarn and Honey location is up at 920 Central Ave.
Owner Carrie Jensen said she hopes to open in that new location on Sept. 3 and she’s adding a coming soon sign to the new store.
For now, she’s still operating out of the 610 Central Ave. location with several sales and deals.

Cozy Corner Cafe
The Cozy Corner Cafe in Fairfield is for sale. The property is listed for $365,000.
Back 2 School Blast
Back 2 School Blast is Aug. 16 with free food, free haircuts, free backpacks and more from noon to 4 p.m. at the Civic Center. Kids who haven’t pre-registered for backpacks are still able to get one on a first come basis.
“Many of our kids need more than crayons and calculators,” Kim Skornogoski, United Way’s marketing director, said in a release. “We know that if students don’t have shampoo to wash their hair, or have a toothache from not brushing their teeth, they can’t focus as well in the classroom.”
Many lessons involve computers and other technology, making inexpensive earbuds or headphones as important as notebooks and pencils.
Now in its 15th year, the Stuff the Bus event has grown, reaching more and more students in need.
Skornogoski said last year people donated more than 15,000 items.
“Each year, the community amazes us with their generosity,” Skornogoski said. “And as a result, we are able to help more and more kids.”
Topping the list of needed items are backpacks, composition notebooks, earbuds and dry erase markers.
People can volunteer, find a list of needed supplies and donate here.
Donations can also be mailed to P.O. Box 1343, Great Falls, MT 59403. To sponsor a student is $50.
Swains Spring Service
The owners of Swains Spring Service, which has operated in Great Falls since 1912, retired in late 2022. Jeff Carlisle and Jim Blunn have owned the company since 1992 and were employed there prior.
They sold the business to Mike and Lori Kite in late 2022.
The business is listed for sale again for $375,000.
