The Cascade County City-County Health Department, Benefis Health System and Little Shell Tribal Health are hosting a free car seat checkup and installation safety event on July 27.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Benefis Women’s and Children’s Center parking lot, 2720 10th Ave. S., the event includes:

• car seat checks and installation help from a certified child passenger safety technician
• bike helmets provided by Benefis Health System
• safety items and educational material
• Sweet treats and more

Correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent, according to event organizers, but more than half of car seats are not used or installed correctly.
