City, county officials release information on River Drive, water park incidents

Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter released details of a July 3 incident on River Drive North.

Slaughter said that while traveling west bound on River Drive North, Theodore Frank Evanila, 85, appeared to slam on his brakes in the middle of the road and became unconscious.

As a result, the vehicle behind him hit the rear of his vehicle at a speed below 10 miles per hour, pushing it off the road into the ditch, according to Slaughter’s July 10 release.

Nurses happened to be driving by and stopped to assist, Slaughter said.

They found Evanila unconscious and not breathing in the driver’s seat. They pulled him out and performed CPR, but were unsuccessful, according to Slaughter.

The county coroner listed the manner of death as natural causes from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

City officials released an update this afternoon on a July incident at the Electric City Water Park.

According to the release, around 4:46 p.m., a child was involved in a medical incident at the pool.

Emergency responders provided first aid at the scene and transported her to the hospital for further medical care.

“At this time, the city is unable to provide or confirm reports regarding her condition,” according to a release. “The incident is currently under investigation.”

An online fundraiser for the child, states that she had gone down the water slide when another child landed on her, holding her underwater and she was later airlifted to Logan Health in Kalispell.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available on the pool incident.
