Argos men fall to Carroll, ending run for Frontier Conference championship

University of Providence men’s basketball fell 93-92 to Carroll College on March 1, ending their run for the Frontier Conference championship.

The Argos scored the first basket of the game and took a six point lead.

A three from senior Davien Harris-Williams made it a 9-0 run but a pair of threes from Carroll shortened the Argo lead to three, according to the recap from UP Athletics.

Following a layup from Carroll, a fadeaway from Harris-Williams and threes from senior Jaylin Reed and Harris-Williams made it 17-10 seven minutes into the game.

Carroll responded with an 8-0 run but the Argos responded and took a 22-20 edge.

Each side traded baskets until a logo three from Reed gave the Argos a 34-28 lead.

The Argos kept the lead for rest of the half.

Harris-Williams scored the first basket of the second half and on the next possession a layup from Reed increased the Argo lead to 11.

With nine minutes remaining in the game, Vining scored making it 69-59.

Over the next four minutes both sides traded baskets until four straight from the Argos increased their lead to 14.

Carroll went on a 17-3 run shortening the Argo lead to two with just over thirty seconds remaining and despite free throws from Reed, a buzzer beater three pointer won the game for Carroll College 93-92.
