Polejewski arrested on new charge
Pamela Polejewski was arrested on Feb. 29 for a new felony charge of evidence tampering.
County Attorney Josh Racki said she was being held in the Cascade County Adult Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
He said that county law enforcement had obtained a search warrant on Feb. 23 to search her property because they believed she had animals on her property at 77 Wexford Lane in violation of her conditions of release for 2020 charges of animal cruelty.
In that case, she was barred from having animals on her property.
Slaughter, Racki release more details on Feb. 23 shooting
That case is still pending, but when deputies went to execute that search warrant on Feb. 23, a deputy was shot in the shoulder and Michael Hanson, who also lived on the property, was shot and killed.
Racki said that animals were found on the property and that as the investigation continued, they had reason to believe Polejewski had attempted to get rid of the animals by giving them away, after she knew officials were looking for animals.
Polejewski will have an initial appearance in district court on March 1 for the new felony count.
Slaughter: deputy shot, in stable condition
Racki said his office also filed to have her bond revoked in the 2020 case since she violated her terms of release.
Polejewski was charged in May 2020 with a felony count of aggravated animal cruelty; and three felony and one misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals, according to the search warrant unsealed and provided by Racki.
The charges stem from a May 6, 2020 fire at 77 Wexford Lane when deputies responded. A trailer had burned to the ground and some animals had been killed in the fire.
While on scene, CCSO deputies saw a number of animals, many in poor condition or living in poor conditions.
