City approves CDBG funds for water park pool lifts
City Commissioners unanimously approved $23,396 of federal grant funds to purchase four pool lifts.
The Park and Recreation Department requested the funds to purchase the Motion Trek pool lifts that will increase access for disabled visitors to the Electric City Water Park facilities.
Park and Rec was approved to use Community Development Block Grant dollars, which are federal funds administered through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Using the CDBG funds saves Park and Rec funds that can be applied to other projects and needs, according to city staff.
Park and Rec is also purchasing two extra batteries for the lifts, a maintenance kit with a battery and four pool lift covers.
Staff wrote in the agenda report that the request is consistent with the city’s amended annual action plan, which was approved by commissioners, and contains the goal of improving public facilities.
