Leaf pickup schedule changing due to forecasted snow

Updated Nov. 5 at 11 a.m.
Great Falls Park and Recreation said Nov. 5 that the week’s forecast of 12-18 inches of snow is altering the leaf pickup schedule.
“In order to pick up as many loose leaves within the boulevard as possible before the weekend, the crews will be temporarily suspending the previously posted schedule. On Nov. 5 and 6, the crews will work within the Boulevard District only picking up loose piles. Over these two days they will not be collecting bagged leaves or doing any raking. This will give the crews more time to get loose piles removed. Once the weather and ground conditions allow for the leaf pickup schedule to resume, an updated schedule will be posted,” according to Park and Rec.

Due to snow in October, the leaf pickup was already delayed.
Residents of the boulevard district are asked to deposit leaves on the boulevard and not in the street gutter.
“If you place leaf piles in the street gutter the leaves become difficult if not impossible to pick up. Additionally, piles with branches, grass clippings, garden waste and pet waste will not be picked up. Please arrange for pickup of those items with your sanitation provider,” according to the city.
