Yarns and fiddle tunes at the Lewis and Clark center next week with Piere Cruzatte

The Lewis and Clark Portage Route Chapter is hosting Richard Bird Baker for yarns and fiddle tunes as “Pierre Cruzatte” at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, 4201 Giant Springs Road on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.

Cruzatte was one of the Lewis and Clark Expedition members who, besides being a master boatman, hunter, guide, and interpreter also contributed his musical talent, according to the Portage Route Chapter.

He was an entertaining singer and fiddle player who also aided diplomacy while doing his music for Indian chiefs.

Baker has been doing living history presentations in the persona of Cruzatte for years. He’s done this particular presentation more than 100 times across Montana, Idaho and North Dakota.  He was the headliner at the Fort Union Rendezvous.
