Soapbox event, PELLET trailer debut in Great Falls Tuesday

Soapbox at Gibson Park

Great Falls Rising is hosting “Speak Up: A Celebration of the 1st Amendment” at the Gibson Park Bandshell at 6 p.m. Aug. 27.

The event will be an opportunity for community members to address attendees with a three minute speech on any topic they wish. This event is being presented as a ‘soapbox’ event where speakers can address social, political or civic issues with the intent of advancing civic dialogue.

Attendees are encouraged to come early with lawn chairs and picnic before the program.

If time allows, people can also sign up to speak at the event.

Great Falls Rising is a local non-partisan, progressive group.

PELLETT

The trailer for PELLET will debut at Heritage Inn at 6 p.m. Aug. 27.

The film highlights the 1951 murder of Clarence Pellett by Frank Dryman. The murder occurred north of Shelby, but Great Falls and the Hi Line also feature prominently in the film, according to Clem Pellet, the victim’s grandson. The film will also feature Clem Pellet’s effort to find justice for his grandfather.

Filming begins in Great Falls for featuring 1951 Shelby murder

Last summer, scenes were filmed in downtown Great Falls and the producing team will give updates on the film and their excitement around the new Montana film tax incentive bill during the trailer premier on Tuesday.

According to the production team, their in the final stages of casting and fundraising.
