The City of Great Falls Animal Shelter is participating in a national campaign called, Clear the Shelters.

The annual event promotes adoptions and “clears the shelters” by finding forever homes for pets.

The national event is Aug. 17, but the Great Falls shelter is hosting a two-day event Aug. 16-17 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

In preparation, the shelter will be closed Aug. 15 and reopen Aug. 16.

During this event, the shelter is offering all dogs and cats for a $10 adoption fee plus a donation of your choice.

The low adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip and a name tag for all pets four months and older.

Adopters will also receive a small gift bag from Hill’s Science Diet while supplies last.

Great Falls residents will be required to purchase a city license at the time of adoption. Licenses are $15 for one year. Existing pet owners who are interested in adopting are asked to provide/bring proof of rabies vaccinations of their current pets.

“The aim of this event is to clear shelters by adopting as many shelter pets as possible.  We are excited to be part of a national movement that has helped place more than 256,000 homeless animals with fur-ever families,” Lynn Formell, city shelter manager, said in a release.
