Gibson Park pedestrian crossing, Cascade sidewalk improvements coming in August
Two construction projects from the Montana Department of Transportation are coming up in Cascade County.
MDT will be constructing an Americans with Disabilities Act compliant roadway crossing of Park Drive to Gibson Park.
Construction is expected to begin Aug. 12 and run through Sept. 30. During construction, the main park entrance may be closed at times. When it’s closed, vehicles should enter the park at the north entrance at Park Drive and 7th Avenue North and exit at the south entrance between 2nd and 3rd Avenues North and Park Drive, according to MDT.

MDT is also beginning construction on new sidewalks and repairs to existing sidewalks in Cascade beginning Aug. 12 for about seven weeks.
MDT recently bid and awarded the construction contract to Missouri River Trucking and Excavating, Inc.
There will be minor shoulder closures, sidewalk closures and short-term impacts to driveways for concrete sidewalk installation. The contractor will be notifying the affected residents of driveway impacts in advance of construction, according to MDT.
The project is along the west side of 3rd Street between 2nd and 4th Avenues South; along the west side of 2nd Street between Central Avenue and 4th Avenue South, and along the south side of 3rd Avenue South between 3rd Street and 1st Street (MT Highway 68).
The work includes approximately 2,500 feet of new sidewalk, upgraded curb ramps to Americans with Disabilities Act standards, spot replacement of deteriorated sidewalk, retaining walls, tree trimming and revegetation. The purpose of the project is to construct sidewalks to safely route pedestrians to and from the Cascade School Complex, the Downtown Business District, and throughout the south side of Cascade, according to MDT.
The project is funded with Federal Highway Administration Transportation Alternatives funds and Town of Cascade local matching funds.
