City considering increase to adult basketball league fee; establishing corporate membership at fitness center

The city is considering increases to fees at the Community Recreation Center for the adult basketball league and establishing a corporate membership for the fitness center for businesses and organizations with 100 of more employees.

During the June 4 meeting, city staff will ask the City Commission to set a public hearing for June 18 to consider the changes.

According to staff, a proposed range of fees will allow the Rec Center flexibility to set fees based on cost recovery and market comparisons. Program costs will be determined and fees will be reviewed following the completion of each program, according to staff.

Rec Center fees were last set in July 2014 for facility usage and program fees.

The proposed fees include an increase for adult basketball leagues from the current rate of $485-$575 to $500-$650.

The proposed corporate membership comes with a $15-$25 monthly rate, according to staff.

The increased adult basketball fee is needed, according to staff, to cover increased costs for referees.

The proposed corporate membership for the fitness center is intended to increase revenue through increased usage, according to the staff report.

The proposed fees will be presented to the Park and Recreation Advisory Board at their meeting on June 10.
