Sukut named director at Great Falls Housing Authority
Greg Sukut has been appointed as the new director of the Great Falls Housing Authority, replacing Kevin Hager who retired Dec. 31, 2018.
Sukut has been serving as interim director since Hager’s retirement during the search for a new director.
Previously, he was deputy director/project supervisor at the Great Falls Housing Authority. In that role, he supervised and managed housing programs and staff in public housing, Section 8 housing choice voucher and affordable housing. He also developed leasing regulations and office policy to conform with state and federal requirements, according to a city release.
Sukut has worked for the housing authority for more than 25 years and holds several professional certifications from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Montana.
During the competitive recruitment process, the city and the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners interviewed two external candidates and Sukut, ultimately deciding to promote Sukut.
Hiring the housing authority director requires the involvement of the agency’s board, as does the process for hiring a library director, which the library recently completed.
“I look forward to continuing our mission in providing safe, decent affordable housing to the region and city,” Sukut said in a release. “Our amazing staff provides an essential service to this community, and we will continue to work with our local service agencies to move forward in this very important mission.”
Sukut assumed his new role as director on April 11.
