Sunday hours at Great Falls library delayed until December

The Great Falls Public Library won’t be open Sundays this October or November.
Due to staffing shortages, the Library Board approved a request to delay Sunday openings until early December.
The library currently has three vacancies, another staffer is going on medical leave and Library Director Kathy Mora is retiring in December.
“It’s really quite impossible for us to staff Sundays,” Mora told the board during their Sept. 25 meeting.
Normally, the library begins Sunday hours the first Sunday in October and runs through the weekend before Memorial Day, Mora said.
She told board members that she couldn’t remember a time the library has been on Sundays for the summer.
“It’s not a popular time to visit the library,” Mora said.
The staffing shortage also has Mora working the public desk at the library, in additional to her duties as director.
In October, the city manager will be meeting with the library board about selecting an interim library director and the recruitment process for a new director.
Descriptions for the library’s current staff vacancies are available here.
