Taste Our Place launching in Great Falls today

Local food is the focus of a new partnership between the Montana Departments of Agriculture and Commerce.
In the vein of the Made in Montana brand, Taste Our Place launched this summer to promote eating and drinking establishments that source Montana ingredients for their menu items.
The program got started over the summer and included a booth at the Montana State Fair in Great Falls and heads of the state Commerce and Agriculture departments will officially launch the program during an event at Mighty Mo Brewing Company in Great Falls this afternoon.
Events will continue throughout the week in Great Falls for the launch:
- Sept 18, 11:30 a.m., Jah-T’aime, 1601 2nd Ave. N.
- Sept 19, 9:30 a.m., Electric City Bistro, 319 Central Ave.
- Sept 19, 1 p.m., Al Banco, 202 2nd Ave. S.
- Sept 20, 11:30 a.m., Roadhouse Diner, 613 15th St. N.

Taste Our Place is open to Montana-based food and drink establishments that serve menu items containing Montana-grown/made ingredients. Food and drinks must be considered ready to consume by the purchaser and establishments selling ingredients that must be finished/prepared by the purchaser, such as stores, farmers markets and roadside stands, are not eligible, according to the state.
Restaurants must join the free Made in Montana program as a restaurant/bar, including food trucks, or as a producer with a distillery, brewery, winery or cidery.
Restaurant members must source as many locally available ingredients as reasonably possible while consistently using a major Montana ingredient such as beef or Montana flour for pizza crust.
Bar members must serve a significant selection of Montana-produced spirits or have brews on tap for Taste Our Place eligibility.
Spirit/beverage tasting rooms must use Montana ingredients, such as Montana barley, wheat, hops, honey or fruits in the production process.
Membership in the Taste Our Place program requires that members promote the use of Montana-sourced ingredients on the menu, menu board, specials list or other location; and must be willing to use the Taste Our Place free collateral materials.
