Scheduled maintenance begins at Calumet on Monday
Calumet Montana Refining will start planned unit shutdown and maintenance activities on Sept. 3.
The planned activities are expected to last about a month, according to Calumet, and during this time there will be periods of flaring due to shutdown and startup activities.
Increased traffic is expected to and from the refinery as contractors will be performing work around the clock.
In a statement, Calumet said “our first priority is the safety of our employees and the local community. The flaring activities do not pose any threat to human health, safety or the environment.”
