CCSO deputies attempted to question man, who then shot himself north of Great Falls
Cascade County deputies were searching for and contacted a 46-year-old man around 1 p.m. on Aug. 24.
Deputies from the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office found the man at 6 Country Lane, located at the intersection with Bootlegger Trail, about five miles north of the city limits.
Upon contact with deputies, the man produced a firearm and shot himself, according to release from Undersheriff Dave Phillips.
Deputies wanted to talk to the man about a harassment complaint reported at another location, according to Phillips.
The man was transported to Benefis Health System and his current condition is unknown at this time, according to Phillips.
Based on the deputies contact with the man, CCSO has asked the Montana Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation to assist and investigate this incident.
Any further information about this active investigation will come from DCI.
Mercy Flight landed at the scene around 1:30 p.m. and as many as six deputies were on scene at that time. Black Eagle Volunteer Fire Department and Great Falls Emergency Services were also on scene.
