Open burning prohibited in Cascade County

Open burning is currently prohibited in Cascade County.

The burn permit system closed Aug. 8 and burning with a permit is closed until further notice and conditions improve, according to John Stevens, county DES manager.

The county is not currently under Stage 1 fire restrictions.

Camp fires that are less than 48 inches in diameter do not require a burn permit and are currently allowed in Cascade County.

Open burning was closed by order of the Cascade County Rural Fire Council.

Last summer, the county closed open burning in July and in August, the county implemented Stage 1 restrictions. In late August 2017, commissioners voted to prohibit all campfires in the county due to high fire danger.
