Jaycee Pool closed for remainder of season due to mechanical failure

Unforseen mechanical equipment failure has forced the closure of Jaycee Pool for the remainder of the season.
The pool was scheduled to close for the season on Aug. 17.
The pool is located at the corner of 4th Street and 23rd Avenue Northeast and the spray park remains open 1-5 p.m. until Aug. 28.
According to Park and Recreation, the pump seized up. Park and Rec isn’t sure yet what the repair cost will be, but “we budget for machinery and equipment repairs so there should be adequate funding to pay for the repair with no need to dip into reserves. This will not affect being able to open the pool next summer; we definitely plan to open both neighborhood pools,” deputy director Patty Rearden told The Electric.
