Great Falls Historic Trolley is for sale

The Historic Trolley is for sale.

The Downtown Great Falls Association listed the 1984 Transicorp Trolley for sale in mid-January for $12,000.

Kellie Pierce, operations director for the association, said they’ve replaced and repaired parts on the trolley and offered a variety of tours over the last four years.

“We just can’t continue to operated in the red with it,” Pierce said. “It needs its own tour management.”

Pierce said there’s been a lot of interest in the trolley since they listed it, so she’s hoping someone local will buy it and keep it operating in the area.

The DGFA has partnered with BlackedOut406 to continue offering tours in a way that’s more affordable for the association.

The trolley was founded in 1996. DGFA took over operations four years ago.

The association has offered downtown tours and special tours like luminaria, brothels, haunted tours and offered private trolley rentals. Revenues from the tours and rentals fund the association’s operations, which works to promote and market the downtown.

The trolley’s engine was replaced in 2008 and has 31,494 miles. The automatic transmission was replaced last summer. It seats 20.
