New basketball floor installed at Montana Expo Park
A floor that was used in the 2017 NCAA Men’s West Regional Basketball Tournament in California is now installed in the Pacific Steel and Recycling Arena at Montana Expo Park.
Gonzaga, Xavier, West Virginia, and Arizona are the only teams that have played on this basketball floor.
The removable floor was refinished by Connor Sports. The company also applied the design specifications outlined by Cascade County.
Earlier this year, Cascade County Commissioners approved a sponsorship agreement with Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company in Great Falls and the company contributed $40,000 to the cost of the floor.
Confero Sports Foundation in Great Falls contributed $12,500 toward the purchase. The trade-in value of the retired floor was $13,000, leaving $28,200 that was covered by the county.
Montana State University Men’s Basketball will host the opening game on the new floor when they play the University of Nebraska Omaha on Nov. 10. Tipoff is at 6 p.m. and tickets are $10.
