GFPS election is May 6, few ballots have been returned so far

The Great Falls Public Schools Board election is one week away.  About 36,780 ballots were mailed and as of April 28, 4,153 had been returned. That’s about 11.2 percent. Ballots are due by 8 p.m. May 6. Lynn Deroche in the Cascade County elections office anticipated that they’d have about 5,000 ballots by the end of day on April 29.

Filing for city elections opens April 17

Update April 23 with early filing Filing opens April 17 for city elections. The November ballot this year includes mayor, twow city commissioners for four year terms, 45 Neighborhood Council representatives, and one Municipal Court judge for a four year term. The city is planning a mail ballot election and all newly elected officials will take office in January 2026.

Cascade County officials certified the Nov. 5 election results during an hours long canvass on Nov. 25 after some delays and a hand recount of seven precincts after some ballots had been misplaced.
