Updated March 9

The Lincoln Elementary School has suffered significant damage due to wind on March 8.

Lance Boyd, Great Falls Public Schools assistant superintendent, said that school will not be held at Lincoln on March 9-10.

A portion of the roof blew off the school around noon March 8.

The district has instituted an emergency closure of Lincoln March 9-10, under GFPS board policy and state law.

Lincoln staff will be on duty at an alternate location and GFPS officials will provide a plan for Lincoln families to meet statutory student education requirements.

The GFPS school board has called a special meeting at 5 p.m. March 9 to address the emergency closure.

Lincoln teachers will be in touch with families and parent meetings are planned for March 10, according to GFPS.

Arrangements are being made for student lunches and more details will be coming as available.
