MDT planning pavement project for 14th and 15th Streets

The Montana Department of Transportation is seeking public comment on a proposed project to resurface about one mile of U.S. Highway 87 in Great Falls.

On 15th Street, the project begins at the intersection with 1st Avenue South, extending north and ending at the intersection with 5th Alley North.

On 14th Street, the project begins at the intersection with 8th Avenue North, extending south to the intersection with 2nd Avenue South.

Proposed work includes milling the existing surface, applying a new overlay, and finishing with upgraded pavement markings and signage. The purpose of the project is to address pavement deterioration and extend the life of the roadway, according to MDT.

Curb ramps within the project limits will be upgraded prior to this project by a separate design-build project under MDT’s Great Falls office.

Construction is tentatively planned for 2027 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed, according to MDT.
