CCHD, GFFR partnering to host immunization clinics in October
The Cascade City-County Health Department and Great Falls Fire Rescue have partnered to offer walk in immunization clinics on Fridays in October.
The clinics will provide flu shots for all ages and COVID vaccines for anyone with commercial insurance.
Because of federal delays, CCHD does not currently have COVID vaccines for anyone without insurance of those under 19 on Medicaid until the U.S. Centers for Disease Control signs off on the recent Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommended guidelines.
Abigail Hill, county health officer, explained those changes to the county health board during their Oct. 1 meeting.
The committee made their recommendations on Sept. 19 regarding COVID and Hill said that typically the CDC signs off on those within a few days, but there’s been a lengthier delay in this instance.
She said that until the CDC signs off on those recommendations, which it is not required to do, CCHD and other providers cannot order COVID vaccines for the uninsured of those under 18 on Medicaid.
She said that at the GFFR immunization clinics, CCHD will have the COVID vaccine available for those under 18 who have commercial insurance.
The Fire Station immunization clinics are:
- Oct. 3, Station 1, 105 9th St. S., 2-5 p.m.
- Oct. 10, Station 2, 731 6th St. N.W., 2-5 p.m.
- Oct. 17, Station 3, 3325 Central Ave., 2-5 p.m.
- Oct. 24, Station 4, 1800 Fox Farm Road, 2-5 p.m.
Bring identification and insurance information to the clinics. No appointment is needed.
