Portion of Fox Farm Road closed for water main repair

The city utilities division has temporarily closed Fox Farm Road between Durango Drive and Grizzly Drive due to a water main break.

Customers near the area will experience temporary water outages during the repair.

The utilities division has barricades and detour signs to reroute traffic around the area.

City approves 27 percent utility increase, discussing how those new funds will be used

The break occurred at the hydrant lead, which is the pipe connecting the water main to the hydrant.

The lead is a six-inch asbestos-concrete pipe that was installed in 1969 and city staff believe the break could have been caused by shifting soils.

City staff told The Electric that the area isn’t currently prioritized for maintenance or replacement and they hadn’t experienced any issues recently.

Utilities staff told The Electric that they aren’t concerned with contamination at this time and a city crew is making the repair this afternoon.

Staff said they hope to have it back in service later this afternoon or early this evening.
