Pomodoro
Pomodoro, an Italian restaurant, is moving into the former Mrs. Wright’s Pastys at 1008 20th St. S.
They’re hoping to open in about five weeks depending on construction, so follow their Facebook page for updates.
The Living Room
Jolene Charters is taking over ownership of The Living Room from Michelle Houghton.
Houghton purchased the salon in October 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic after working at the salon for nearly 14 years.
The Living Room celebrates one year with new owner [2021]
”Owning The Living Room fulfilled a lifelong dream of having a creative space that allowed people to feel comfortable and happy, adding my own personal touch in design and aesthetics fueled my creativity and more importantly the opportunity to work alongside some of the most inspiring beauty industry professionals that have become like a second family,” Houghton said in a post. “At the end of the day an opportunity to hand over the reigns to one of those inspiring individuals presented itself and it just felt right. The timing is perfect and it allows me the chance to step back in to the supporting role where I will still be happily doing my craft behind the chair at The Living Room, so no one needs to worry about me going anywhere just yet.”

They’re hosting an open house at 5 p.m. Aug. 27 in their new space.
Nosh
Julie Curtis of Nosh Catering has been awarded a scholarship to attend the Shared Kitchen Summit in Cleveland, Ohio in November— the nation’s leading event for food system leaders, shared kitchen operators, and innovators.
Her $927 registration is covered but she’s requesting funds to cover travel, lodging, meals and educational resources, which equate to about $2,400. Her confirmation is due by Sept. 1.
“The insights and connections gained will directly benefit central Montana. We’ll create a detailed report and host a workshop to share best practices, resources, and opportunities with our food entrepreneurs, developers, and partners,” Curtis wrote. “This opportunity isn’t just about professional development— it’s about making sure Montana has a strong voice in the national conversation on food systems. The impact is great, and we’re excited to bring it home.”
If you or your business would like to learn more about collaboration/sponsorship, email Curtis at noshmtcatering@gmail.com and/or Venmo her @julez123.
Business Bites: “Does anybody know what’s being built…”
High Tech Automotive
High Tech Automotive at 2324 10th Ave. S. closed in July after 32 years.
In a post, the owners said they were closing while helping the family carry on with Truss Works.
“We are so thankful for all of the amazing customers we have had over the years. It felt more like a family than a business,” the owners posted online.
Great Falls Clinic Legacy Foundation
The Great Falls Clinic Legacy Foundation is in need of donations of queen and/or queen sized sheets and towels for their Poulsen Housing, or “Legacy House,” located on the clinic’s campus.
Items can be dropped off at 3004 15th Ave. S., and ask for Adrian Swensen, or donate online here.
The Poulsen Housing is a non-profit temporary housing facility for patients and their families traveling to Great Falls for medical treatment.
“The Legacy House provides a ‘home away from home’ for patients, caregivers, and/or family members. We provide a warm and healing atmosphere where guests can eat, sleep and recover without the stress of finding and funding a place to stay,” according to the foundation, and it’s free to guests by operating on donations.
Total Nutrition and Tanning

Deshner is taking over from Wayne Morin, who started the business 30 years ago after leaving the Air Force in 1995.

The movie is free, so grab the lawn chairs or a blanket and take the family to the park for an evening under the stars.
The family friendly event includes kids’ activities such as face painting, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Events in State Parks
Award winning American singer songwriters Rob and Halladay Quist take the stage for a concert at 3 p.m. Sept. 6 at Giant Springs State Park in Great Falls.
The concert is free and is sponsored by PepsiCo of Great Falls. Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item as a donation.
The performance is in the grassy area near the fish hatchery, so a lawn chair or blanket is best for optimal seating.

First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park is hosting two ranger-led hikes in September and the park invites visitors to enjoy a unique walk through the park to enjoy either the morning sunrise or the evening sunset and full moon.
On Sept. 1, a two-hour guided sunrise hike will leave the visitor center at 6 a.m. and hike to the top of the cliffs to observe sunrise while learning about the history of the park.
The September full moon is traditionally known as the Corn Moon and First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park is offering visitors a chance to enjoy the Corn Moon with a ranger-guided hike on Sept. 6.
The hike will begin at the nature center at 7 p.m., to enjoy watching the full moon rise at 7:38 p.m., with sunset following shortly after that time.
Both hikes are family-friendly and consist of moderately strenuous three-mile loops with elevation gains of about 400 feet.
Advanced registration is required for the hikes and a $4 fee applies for each hiker.
The hikes are limited to 25 people, and reservations can be made by calling the park at 406-866-2217.
