County approves contract with GFPS for JDC teachers
Cascade County Commissioners approved a contract during their June 24 meeting with Great Falls Public Schools for two teachers at the Juvenile Detention Center.
The new contract covers the next two school years and can be renewed automatically for another year unless amended or terminated, under the contract provisions.
JDC director retires, county interviewing candidates
Under the contract, GFPS provides two certified and licensed teachers for in-house educational instruction at the JDC.
The county reimburses GFPS for one of those teachers up to $70,000 annually for the contract term, based on step, education and accrued semester hours.
GFPS rolling out new online learning platform to increase options, student enrollment
The teachers provide a minimum of 180 days of instruction and under the contract, will provide student instruction for 187 days, Monday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., inclusive of days in June through August with GFPS is otherwise not in session.
Teacher days off will be through mutual agreement of the JDC and GFPS.
