Ahenakew sentenced in 2023 stabbing, transferred to state prison
Bing Ahenakew was transferred this month from the Cascade County Adult Detention Center to the Montana State Prison.
Earlier this spring, Ahenakew signed a plea deal and was sentenced to 40 years in the Montana State Prison with 20 years suspended.
He was credited for 701 days of time served, as of mid-April, for his time spent in the county jail.
Andrade charged in early morning shooting death
Ahenakew plead guilty in the agreement to a felony count of accountability for deliberate homicide from a May 2023 incident in Chowen Springs Park that left Tammey McWilliams, 51, dead.
McWilliams was killed by multiple stab wounds, according to the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office.

According to GFPD, officers responded to a noise complaint around 1:52 a.m. May 23, 2023 in the Chowen Springs housing authority community at the 800 block of 17th Street South.
When officers arrived, the found several people attempting to leave the southeast corner of the park, according to GFPD, where officers found McWilliams deceased.
GFPD said that all people on the scene were identified on May 23.
“Evidence and statements support some type of physical disturbance having taken place,” according to a May 23, 2023 GFPD release.
GFPD said at 6:40 p.m. May 24, 2023 that two arrests had been made in connection with the incident.

GFPD arrested then 20-year-old Bing Derrick Ahenakew and 18-year-old Charlotte Mary Andrade and both were charged with accountability to deliberate homicide, a felony.
A jury found Andrade, now 20, not guilty last year on the charge in this incident.
She was charged with felony counts of deliberate homicide and attempted deliberate homicide for a shooting in the Phoenix Apartments on June 9.

At the time of the shooting, there was a warrant for Andrade’s arrest in connection with a May 28 incident, in which she was charged with a felony count of criminal endangerment and a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief for allegedly shooting a woman in the face with a BB gun.
“This event does not appear to have been a ‘random’ attack. The GFPD does not believe there is any elevated risk to the public,” according to GFPD regarding the May 2023 stabbing.
