City Easter egg hunt is April 19

Updated April 15 to reflect the location change.

The city’s annual Easter egg hunt is set for 11 a.m. April 19.

This year it’s been moved to Elks Riverside Park, according to Great Falls Park and Recreation.

Families should arrive no later than 10:45 a.m. to be lined up since eggs go quickly.

The hunt will feature eggs filled with candy, coins and special prizes. The Easter Bunny will make an appearance so bring your baskets.

The Easter Egg Hunt age divisions include:  1 to 3 years old, 4 to 6 years old and 7 to 9 years old.

Jimmy and Debbie Filipowicz and Steel Etc. have again donated to make the hunt possible for the 12th year.

When the event was in danger of being canceled eleven years ago due to a loss in funding, the Filipowicz’s and Steel Etc. offered to pay all expenses associated with the hunt.

“The Easter Egg Hunt is a great event for children and the community. We didn’t hesitate to offer our support in 2011, and entering into our eleventh year, we are more committed than ever. It’s rewarding to feel the excitement in the air and to see the great time the kids have. I have a soft heart when it comes to kids and we want to see this annual tradition continue. The community has been good to our business and we want to give back,” Jimmy Filipowicz said in a 2024 city release.

Members of AmeriCorp helped fill hunt eggs this year.

The hunt is held annually the Saturday before Easter.
