County preparing for November election, concern over write-in candidate stickers

Portion of North River Road closed indefinitely

Updated Sept. 27 North River Road between 15th Street Northeast and 10th Street Northeast is closed to through traffic indefinitely. Traffic will be detoured so drivers are asked to be aware of work signs, detours and road closures. The Foundation for Affordable Housing and Vitus are planning to redevelop the Franklin School Apartments using low-income housing tax credits. County approves solid waste fee increase

County Commissioners voted 2-1 during a special Sept. 19 meeting to increase solid waste fees.  Initially, commissioners had proposed a 50 percent increase, raising the annual assessment from $120 to $180, but after discussion and public comment, Commissioner Joe Briggs moved to increase the assessment by 45 percent.
