GFPD responded to Central Avenue disturbance, suspect in custody
At approximately 12:15 p.m. today patrol teams were dispatched to a disturbance in the 1700 block of Central Avenue.
Great Falls Police Department officers and deputies with the U.S. Marshals Service arrived to find a male, believed to armed, barricaded inside a residence.
The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Timothy Short, according to GFPD.
After several attempts to persuade Short to surrender, the GFPD High Risk Unit was activated.
Negotiators with HRU successfully communicated with Short and around 1:45 p.m., he surrendered and was taken into custody.
Short is being charged with one count of felony assault with a weapon and has been taken to the Cascade County Adult Detention Center, according to GFPD.
There are no reported injuries and no further threat to the community, according to GFPD.
